Our release notes are designed to keep you updated on the continuous development of Squid Data Hub. In this series, we’ll highlight new features, improvements, and insights from our work.
Release Notes from 01st October 2025
New Features 🧩
It is now possible to completely disable specific feature groups (e.g. Locations or Systems). This also applies to referencing fields in related items.- Item names are now translatable — for example, Locations can be renamed to Rooms.
- Change history is now tracked for Systems, Locations, and CableTypes.
Import Improvements 📥
- The import preview now prevents the deletion of items that are referenced elsewhere and displays warnings for references to non-existing items of other types.
- The user interfaces for import uploads, delta view (not yet merged), and the import status page have been visually improved.
- The JSON importer now uses the same configuration framework as the Excel importer, ensuring consistent behavior across formats.
- Import configurations can now not only map custom column headers to internal field names but also define default values, mark fields as mandatory, and set more fine-grained options.
User Management 👥
- Users can now be added to organizations and projects by their username in addition to their email address.
UI and UX Enhancements ⚙️
- The error message shown when uploading an unsupported file type has been improved for better clarity.
- Table sorting icons now more accurately reflect the sorting behavior.
- The user interface has been updated in multiple areas to align with the improved design guidelines.
Bug Fixes & Misc Improvements 🛠
- Fixed an issue where old and new values were misaligned in the Changed tab of the import preview.
- Fixed an error page that appeared during export failures.
- Fixed a bug that occasionally occurred when importing item changes.
- Fixed inconsistent sorting behavior between empty text values and null values, which appeared confusing to users. (This change applies to items written to the database from now on.)
- Fixed a bug that occurred when all roles were removed from a project member.
- Fixed inconsistent sorting of items by description or other string values caused by differing handling of null and empty strings.
